The Hydra is the largest constellation, stretching across 100 degrees of the sky. Depicted as a seven-headed monster in Greek mythology, it represents our great enemy, the serpent Leviathan mentioned in scripture.
The following poem describes this enemy using phrases from many parts of the Bible. The poetic form is a cento, formed entirely of lines borrowed from other poets.

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, Revelation 20:3
Having the key of the bottomless pit
And a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon,
That old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,
And bound him a thousand years,
And cast him into the bottomless pit,
And shut him up, and set a seal upon him,
That he should deceive the nations no more,
Till the thousand years should be fulfilled.
And after that he must be loosed a little season.
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword Isaiah 27:1
Shall punish leviathan that crooked serpent;
And he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
