So before the Arts and Culture Tour I set up for last February, I made 250 porcelain discs inscribed with the event, place and date. (Which made them useless for any other event, place or date.) They were to be souvenirs for the visitors, but I made miscalculations both in number of visitors and method of distribution. Over 100 remained.
What to do with them? Give them to mosaic artists? Make them into Christmas ornaments?
Two days ago I sprayed kaolin on our apple trees to protect the fruit from apple maggots. Yesterday it came to me: make the souvenir discs into maggot lures.
Today I painted them with neon orange and neon yellow (why they look green in the photo I can't explain.) Tomorrow I'll tie them into the trees, coat them with Tanglefoot, and let them do their thing. Pretty cool, huh? If they work. I'll try to remember to report later.
