Today I plan to glaze one of my latest porcelain pieces, and it presents a challenge. I want to portray water falling from the edge of the bowl into the bottom.
To get some visual help, I took photos at Multnomah Falls and The Dalles Dam on our Thanksgiving trip.
The photos show me that the rock wall behind the water is darker than the rock farther away, that in places the darkness of the rock shows through the falling water, that the falling water churns up the water at the bottom and that mist shows in many places.
How realistic will the finished glazed bowl be?
