Remember this fungus that looked like a toasty meringue? Today it appears to be covered with cocoa powder. The shiny place on top is where rain was under a leaf. And look at the little guy on the right side. Now I'm pretty sure what kind of creature was eating on the polyphore earlier. What is this brown powder? My guess is spores, which is the way fungi reproduce.
Remember the lovely white shelf fungus, so clean and well formed? This is what it looks like today. I have no idea what this crumbly white stuff is, but all together it looks like the fungus has been deep fried and heavily coated with powdered sugar. (Am I hungry or what?)
