I'm beginning an exercise To know (experience) Jesus better by reading through his life in chronological order. This requires the use of a Harmony, a parallel compilation of all four Gospels.
It starts at John chapter 1, which seems to be John's conclusion as to who Jesus really is. Presumably, what follows in his gospel will provide the clues that led him to this conclusion.
I intend to respond to what I learn through poetry. The following poem in dactylic tetrameter (for those who like poetry) is my first. It comes from John 1:1-18.
In the beginning the Word was with God,
Word with whom, Word through whom, all things were made.
Glory he had as God's only true Son.
Into the world he came unto his own.
Life was in him to give light to all men,
True light to banish the darkness of sin.
Able to make us the children of God,
Grace upon grace from his fullness we had.
