I went to the Battle Ground Art Alliance "small events" Saturday. At this one everyone brought their own acrylic painting to work on.
I had a 6"x6" wood block to prepare for the upcoming show, a small canvas covered with black acrylic, and a blank canvas.
For a long time I've wanted to paint the fog. That morning I captured several photos of fog (including some while driving to the event).
After finishing the wood block, I happily started painting a couple trees on the blank canvas. But what I painted did not look like what was in my mind's eye, and I finally abandoned my still mostly blank canvas.
Yesterday I got it out again and added more trees, brush and moss. The photo here is how the painting looks this morning. Next I'll bring in the fog. Hopefully, it will turn out well. Even if it doesn't, I've learned some things from the effort.
