What I was trying to get with this photo was the colorful sparkles on top of the snow. When the sun is behind the snow, I can see the crystals sparkle in green, gold, pink, white and blue. Although that isn't visible in the photo, if you squint your eyes you can see a faint rainbow of pink and yellow at the perimeter of the sunny spot.
Usually when we have snow here in SW Washington, the temperature quickly warms up. Melting snow drops from the trees, leaving holes in the surface of the snow. With this winter's cold weather, the top of the snow is preserved smooth except for fallen twigs and the footprints of animals. It is so fun to see where the bunny tracks go, my dog's tracks and mine. And then the little bird prints here and there. So much beauty around. Makes me sad when I hear people complain of the snow.
